Lorenzo Amos, Joseph Geagan, Rita Letendre, Yu Nishimura, and Ser Serpas

Opening December 1st through Fall 2026

Solo Presentations features five artists: Lorenzo Amos, Joseph Geagan, Rita Letendre, Yu Nishimura, and Ser Serpas. Each artist will have their own room and be represented by multiple works, many of which were commissioned by the Museum. These presentations demonstrate the museum’s continued commitment to identifying, engaging, and championing emerging artists.

Lorenzo Amos (b. 2002, New York, NY; lives and works in New York, NY)
Presenting four paintings inspired by his time spent working and living in his Brooklyn studio, Amos explores intimate and personal narratives of contemporary life.

Joseph Geagan (b. 1987, New York, NY; lives and works in Los Angeles, CA)
Joseph Geagan’s paintings feature comic scenes that foreground the social sphere around him. A self-taught artist, his work includes his friends, artists, pop figures, and imaginary personalities in various states of socializing and carousing.

Rita Letendre (1928-2021, Drummondville, Canada; lived and worked in Toronto, Canada)
Letendre was a Canadian painter of Abenaki and Québécois descent, associated with the art movements Les Automatistes and the Plasticiens. Eight paintings spanning four decades of her practice will be presented.

Yu Nishimura (b. 1982 Kanagawa, Japan; lives and works in Kanagawa, Japan)
Drawing from sources such as street photography and anime, Nishimura’s often dreamlike portraits explore the passage of time and memory, depicting figures in quiet contemplation and reflection.

Ser Serpas (b. 1995, Los Angeles, CA; lives and works in New York, NY)
The subjects of Serpas’ paintings are bodies imagined by a free AI image generator. Malformed, interrupted, and bearing the marks of use, Serpas’ painterly subjects eventually resemble the raw, found materials she selects for her sculptures.
